National Luna Dual Controller for AGM ???

All the information I can find on the National Luna Dual Controller says that it is for use with two lead acid batteries. I however, have two AGM batteries (Optima Red top, from the good days of Optima, and a Die Hard P5). I wonder how well the controller can monitor the levels of these two batteries since they are not the wet type.

Does anyone have experience using this controller with AGM batteries?

Thanks

The basic battery types are:

FLA (Flooded Lead-Acid - A.K.A. wet cell)
AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat)
Gel (Gelled electrolyte)

Then there is VRLA (valve-regulated lead-acid). That would be any sort of sealed battery with an over-pressure pop-off valve. Could be FLA, AGM or Gel - if it's sealed, it's a VRLA.

AGMs are VRLA batteries. The electrolyte (acid/water mix) is absorbed into glass mats between the lead plates.
Gels are also VRLA. The electrolyte is gellied with an additive.
Optimas are spiral wound AGM VRLA, they have spiral coils of lead wire instead of flat plate grids.

The charge voltage specs for FLA and AGM are generally the same: 14.4v - 14.8v bulk, 13.2v - 13.6v float.
The charge voltage specs for Gel are generally a bit lower: 14.2v bulk, 12.8v - 13.2v float.

So no worries, your batteries *are* lead-acid batteries.
