Going to Italy for 3 weeks with lots of driving in Rome and many small towns. iPad/TomTom will be main nav unit. Want to have wife's Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tablet as a backup. What nav software for Europe/Italy have you used to good effect?

Thanks, John

Avenza PDF works great. I have it on my iPad and I believe it's also on Android. The app is free but some of the better maps you have to pay for. The nice thing is there are good free maps for most of the major cities and tourist hotspots.

I am familiar with Avenza on my iPad, but all it does is display maps. It offers no routing, i.e., navigation.

I greatly prefer CityMaps2Go over Avenza for mapping, as the open street maps available on CM2G are worldwide, excellent, and free.

Has anyone used anything on their Android tablet for navigation abroad — e.g., Italy?

Thanks, John
