need a longer ladder overland rtt

Well I got my overland tent on my truck and am very excited to use it. Right now with the ladder fully extended the ladder just swings since it is not long enough to reach the ground. It works with a few 2x4 under it but once I move to the taller summer tires I will need an extention of some sort. Is there anything premade for this problem or will I have to make it myself?
thanks,, yea it's up there kinda scary getting out of the tent on to the ladder

Have you extended the ladder at the bottom as well. The foot of the ladder will adjust out and may take up the distance you require.

Other than that PM MikeS or contact him via the Autohome website.

If you have extended the bottom (foot) section of the ladder out al the way and it is still too short, we have an extended foot option that should solve the problem. Give me a call if you need one.

I broke out the welder when I ran into the same problem. Made an extension in about an hour.

The Overland ladder is aluminum, your ladder is steel. Problematic without the correct welder.

The foot extender is a good option, also available for Eezi Awn tents.

When you order a RTT include the height the platform will be off the ground so the dealer can estimate if it needs the ladder extension.

I used square tubing that would slide over the existing ladder. It is an extension that I put on after deploying the tent and not permanently affixed. I do understand wanting to keep it looking the same though. Sounds like the aftermarket extension is the way to go.

I love how quickly you can get info on this site. Mike S I will give you a call to find out about the longer foot section. I am working this week so I will be playing with it again next week hopefuly getting to use it for a short trip out of the snow some place. I did not get mine from a dealer but from a doctor buddy that wanted it out of the garage. can't complain for the deal I got. It still had the plastic cover on the mattress.

Not sure how the extension works on other RTTs, but with the Eezi-Awn, it needs to be removed when you stow away the tent. The extention works great until you forget it at home. Left it in the garage once and had to endure a few words from the Mrs until I figured out that a Pelican 1610 would make a great base for the ladder to rest on. All was well.

Sounds like you got a good deal on your OverLand. We have sold quite a few (1000+?) AutoHome tents, and some show up from time to time on the second hand market. They last a long time, so a used tent at a decent price usually represents a good value.

The OverLand ladder has a center (gross) adjustment and an adjustable foot for fine adjustments. This Extension replaces the standard foot with one that extends further. It stows on the ladder. No problems.
