Like others have said - being its a Northeast Truck (any northern starts where salts are used in the winter) really scrutinize the frame for rust. Worst spots I have seen are in rear of the rear axle. Have seen some Gen 2 & 2.5 trucks around Milwaukee with large holes rusted thru the frames. Most of the owners were really surprised when I pointed out that the trucks they were trying to sell should really be headed for the scrap yard. I travel south of the salt zone for my older trucks.

If the truck is truly rust free the frame will still be black. I have given up on buying rust buckets. I now go out of my way to buy 30 year old rust free vehicles out of SoCal, Arizona and Texas. Every time I see a clean rust free 30 year old 4x4 I **** a brick and drool all over it.

180K miles is nothing on a Gen 2.5. I would expect this vehicle to good for 400k miles if it was taken care of properly. These are not pieces of junk like the Dodge Durango.

I didn't comment at all about the expected life or robustness of the vehicle. As a Mitsu owner I fully know the capabilities, my comment was purely towards his willingness to spend the money and time to keep the truck in the shape it will need to be in to make it to 400k.

I like the color combo. FWIW It appears clean in the photo on Craigslist. Its been posted for a while. The seller may be unfamiliar with craigslist/cars in general.

Hey, you just have to be sure that everything on that Montero works as you want, they are very reliable vehicles, believe me. I have a 2000 Dakar Edition with 271349 miles, and looks and feels like new!!! Montero 2000 Dakar Edition.jpg
