Need help-2005 Suburban Z71 1500 4x4

My burb has a 6 inch lift with 35x12.50x20. Definitely sick of the 20's and the price per tire for them. (I bought the truck with them already on it) I have been looking to downsize to 16 inch wheels...My burb was originally stock with 17" wheels and lately people have been telling me the calipers might get in the way of 16's but no one can give me a straight answer...Does anyone happen to know? Thank ya!

Yeah, I am not a fan of Bling either. You're fine with 16's on a GMT800 plateform SUV. In fact, 16's were the primary wheel size until just a few years ago when 17's became an option.

Thanks, really appreciate it. Yea, the bling has got to go, looking at some Black Rock Steel Wheels in 16, I was about to order them today and the guy on the phone was about the 5th or 6th person that made me doubt myself...so I had to ask thanks again though

I would test fit first.... I seem to remember that being the cutoff year for 16's. I may be wrong though..

16’s were the standard wheel size on all GMT800 trucks and SUV’s (1999 – 2006). 17’s were standard on Z71 SUV’s and optional on some 1500 series pickups. The 17 inch wheel was solely for appearance, not for brake caliper clearance or anything like that. 16’s will work fine on a Z71 SUV. Many people have ditched their 17’ wheels on these rigs without issue because that is what the platform was originally designed to run.

Thanks guys....I bought this rig with an offroad mind set (had a 97 dodge ram suited for trails but got sick of working on the tranny all the time)went ahead and bought some wheels earlier today- Pro comp 8069 black wheels, 16x8 for my 35x12.50 xterrains....looking forward to getting them and hitting the trails....u guys know waiting on tires is like when ur 6 waiting for a new toy...haha
