Need help converting shapefile to google earth or gpx

ok, so I had a good conversation with the folks at Gifford Pinchot National Forest around their GIS data...and somehow out of that, they created a 'Recreation sites' file for recreationers like me to use in finding all the cool things to do around GPNF (trailheads, waterfalls, etc)...

Unfortunately, it's in a shapefile, which I have yet to figure out (give me Delorme, Nat Geo, etc and I'm fine)...

Can anyone help me convert these files? None of the online converters seems to work right for me (probably user error)

Or show me/help me convert these to either Google Earth or better yet a .gpx file?

Thanks in advance

gpsbabel is a free tool that works great for these type of conversions.

I tried that...for some reason I couldn't get it to work for me (and I'm a total software nerd too)...just couldn't get it to convert or anything...I'm hooked up now though, so am happy :)
