I just wrapped a day working on the AFM swap I'm working on. I have the old AFM out and the new intake tube in. Oiling the K&N tonight and making a few mods to the little brackets to get the new AFM mounted tomorrow.
My QUESTION is: On the old AFM/K&N filter there is a hose that is attached to the intake tube going to the throttle body. The hose goes from the back of the K&N filter into what I think is part of the emissions system, a small black device (I think it is the RESONATOR). What happens if I disconnect the resonator? Would I pass emissions with it disconnected? What would the engine run like if it is disconnected?
The reason I ask is that with the new AFM and filter I have no place to attach the hose for the resonator. I can make something if need be, but wondering if I need it. I do live in an area that requires emissions testing.
Thanks again for everyones help.
