Need some help with a prado

As some of you know I do lots of mission work in Africa . This morning I got a facebook from my buddy in Tanzania who is having trouble getting ARB parts to him for his rig. He is a bush missionary and needs some quality parts for his landcruiser. I am taking a big trip and shipping some items and he wanted to know if I could throw in some stuff he needs. He is sending me his specs but IIRC his truck is a 1991 landcruiser prado. He is looking for a heavy/firm OME lift and ARB air lockers for the front and rear. He wants the arb lockers but I am worried about reliability. Would an arb front and Detroit rear be better? About 90% of his driving is off road.
Someone in Canada or OZ that actually has a prado weigh in for me.
Thx

Go to TRDparts4you.com (I think) they're here on the board now too. Since the Prado is, I belive, built on the same platform as the 4Runner (IV gen) and the FJ, parts should be interchangable. Hope you can find what he needs, it's tough to be out in the bush and not have access to all the things we take for granted.

Cheers

I have ARB front and rear and they are very reliable, correctly installed. Just get the heavy duty air line. IF you want to save a few $ you could go with a aussie in the rear, if tarmac driving won't happen alot.

I agree. No reliability issues with my ARBs. If you contact ARB usa in Seattle they should be able to point you in the right direction for parts. You may have to go direct to Australia for Prado gear but there are numerous ARB factory retailers down there that would ship worldwide with a visa card...

arb usa's site also has a ver good spec list. i believe you would want the 886 and 140S for the front and depending on load the 895 or so for the rear. and the parado 120 uses the same chassis as the 4th gen 4runner and the same fron sspension as the FJ

AND now I officialy realize that there are other Prado's out there NOT based off our American trucks... For the rig you're talking about, my idea will not get you very far, sorry mate.

I've always been a bit critical about ARBs but I guarantee that the 2LT will leave him stranded before the lockers will. Probably multiple times.

Yes I did own a Prado once. (1991 LJ73)
