Need some series help!

That is a great price! To bad is over there and not here in the US. I like the jerry can ideas, although I think four is way to many for my needs. I still haven't decided what I am going to do with the headlight set up. I may mount something to the back for the moment like I have on my D2. There appears to be a spare mount on the back gate that I could use... What are some thoughts on this (see photo)? I think I am wanting to use all four headlights so the front mounts may not work. BTW: does anybody know a good place to find a used "breakfast" so I can get rid of the homemade thing the PO put on. (The grills are called breakfasts right?)

I asked this question as well last month-the thread should be on the 2nd or 3rd page by now. Apparanetly it was a joke that grew legs and really took off. The joke is that whilst on Safari series drivers would remove their grill and use it as a grille over a fire to cook their breakfast upon. This would be a very bad idea with the zinc coating would make it harmful to your health.

I've seen it reference as a "breakfast" from several sources so I have a feeling the brits are getting a hardy chuckle at our expense.

I'm not a fan of rear mounted petrol cans. I just don't trust other drivers. But since you'd be carrying diesel, the risk is less.

Yeah I have been worried about that as well with my D2 but it is mounted pretty high. I have some other questions that have cropped up as well. What do most people do with the rear cargo space. I would like to refinish it and replace the wood planks with some scrap hardwood flooring but I don't know what to do about all of the exposed metal. I don't like the idea of rhino lining it but I guess I could be swayed. I would rather paint it... I want it to be weather proof and look nice. Any ideas or links to some pics would be nice. It will be in my driveway in about a week, so I'm starting to get antsy.

I've never been bothered by the plain interior. My '73 had the delux interior, but the rest have just the bare painted birmabright. You can get rubber mats that fit also.

It may be fine after a good cleaning but I don't want my passengers worrying about tetanus! The front portion is fine but the back looks a hair rough!

The back is aluminum so if it has anything on it, it should be just surface rust. You have to be careful about putting anything on the metal as these trucks tend to leak if left out in the rain, driven through water or just near water so the water will pool under mats and might hasten corrosion. The mat set is pretty inexpensive from usual sources but be sure to lift it up and check for moisture regularly.

The "hose it out" aspect is one of the great things about thee trucks!

Well, just treat your Rover like a sub-Saharan county and tell your passengers they can't travel without proper vaccines. :sombrero:
FWIW, in all my years of driving Land Rovers, I can't remember ever cutting myself on one other than when I was working on it.

I was being a little facetious but its funny you mention cutting yourself. I drew blood when I went to check it out and test drive it. BTW Thanks to everyone that has helped me to this point! I am picking it up on monday if the weather cooperates, so I will start another thread when I have more questions.
Happy Rovering!

Ah, the long weekend before you get to pick up the new Rover....I picked mine up on a Monday and I thought it would never get here. I was excited, nervous,a little scared about the money and thrilled all at the same time.

Looking forward to pics and the "I got it,now what" thread.
