Need Tires in Trujillo Peru

cyclist

Observer
I am currently driving through south america, and this morning when we pulled onto pavement, one of my wheels was thumping. Upon inspection I have broken a belt in one of my BFG all terrains. The tire was basically worn out, so its not a big loss, but I now need to find a replacement. Current plan is 2 new tires at this point, rotated onto the back and using up the current BFGs on the front. We are in Trujillo, which is a fairly large city on the coast so there should be options.
Tire size is 265x70 R16 load range D, truck is a tundra with camper that weighs a bit over 6000lbs total.
I am looking for ideas on what to buy that will be availble for reasonably cheap. The current BFGs have been fine until this point, but I don't know about availability. I have read Doug Hackney's threat, but my toyota doesn't need heavy truck tires so I don't think it applies.
I have seen goodyears and bridgestones around, as well as lots of maxxis. Any thoughts on what tires I should look at?
Any suggestions on a tire dealer? We only plan on being in town a few days, as we need to keep moving north so I want to do this soon.

Thanks

I don't have any suggestions for where to get or what, but you might find that you have better luck finding 265/75R16's. The 60 series tire is a little bit harder to find, particularly in a D rating. (Most are C)

The overall height would be a little taller, but probably not enough to do any damage in 4wd if you make sure you only engage 4wd on loose surfaces, which is how you should be doing things anyway.

All three brands you mention are pretty good, so it'll probably be a matter of who has a 265 in stock that you like.
Good luck!

I'm based in Lima where you can get whatever you like, but in a few minutes i should have the info on the best tyre shops in trujillo. Even if there isn't local stock of what you specifically want you should be able to have them shipped up there overnight.

Cheers,
Damien

I hope this helps, these are the big stores. I've asked in my local landcruiser group for specific recommendations of stores in trujillo and will post on if i get any. let me know if you're already sorted.
