Bump from a first time poster but long time reader. Lots of great info on the board.

What did you end up getting silvercruiser? Any updates, or feedback from any KM2 owner?

I am about to get new 255/85/16's for my Tacoma but am interested to know how loud the KM2's are on the highway. I've read everything from unbearable to totally silent.

I drive quite a bit on the highway, so I don't want anything unbearably loud, but I also have the "it's a truck" mentality so I don't mind some noise.

I have almost 150,000 on 3 sets of BFG AT's on 2 Tacomas for reference. They seem silent to me. I don't mind some tire noise, but swamper/old fashioned mudder noise is a no go.

Any help for an OCD tire shopper? Will these tires be a huge adjustment or not that big of a deal?

Thanks :)

We run the Cooper Discoverer S/Ts on my wife's 62 in a 31-10.50-15 flavor in the Winter months. They are very noisy, but they are also studded. Great in the snow, though. The lugs clean very well, great in the deep fluff. The studs are great on the hard pack and ice. I may buy another set of them in 285-75-16 for my Cruiser for the Winter time.

I recently ran a set of KM2s for a few weeks on my Blazer to see how I liked them. No noticeable difference from the BFG ATs that were on there before, back on now. Unfortunately they're on a friend's WJ (he bought them before his lift kit arrived thinking wouldn't fit, they didn't . . . so I graciously let him borrow my ATs :smiley_drive:)

Between that experience, and those who I know running them on JKs and TJs, the general consensus is they're pretty much the same as the AT KOs noise wise. The big issue with noise that people have seems to be due to lack of rotation, proper inflation, balancing, and alignment (usually a combination of those.) Over-spirited driving can also cause some issues. These kind of tires will cup easily and that's where the noise issue usually arises from.

Find the right pressure (not necessarily what the manufacturer puts on the door jamb/owners manual, not max pressure on sidewall of tire), keep them rotated every 5K-7K miles, keep the suspension in-spec, and the alignment in check (every year/15K miles, depending on conditions) then there shouldn't be any problems. In short, the basic things that are supposed to be done on every vehicle as routine maintenance.

I'll be putting KM2s on my next vehicle in 255/85-16 or 255/80-17.

Thanks mdnky.

I am pretty good with keeping up rotations and pressures, so that won't be a problem.

Any other reviews are appreciated if anyone has any different experiences with noise/road manners I'd like to hear it.
