There is the final battery install. So you guys can see.... there is NO terminal contact and its quite protected. Strapped and secure down. Again first pic was a mockup.
Took it apart again to show... tell me your thoughts

Can 1 of the batteries be turned around? It looks very scary to have the positive on one battery so close to the negative on the other battery AND the positive/negative wires touching each other on the cross over- if the batteries moved a little, something fell on it or the insulation on the connecting wires were to rub off, it could cause a nice short and possible fire.

If you could align both of the same polarity next to each other, you could drastically eliminate this possibility.

My thoughts also. This is a electrical short/heat/fire that WILL happen. The only remaining question is when and where.

They are isolated. Thanks for the heads up. Already thought of that. Batteries can't move. And spacer installed. Cables insulated and they are hidden. Under platform of wood.plastic and fabric.

I'm guessing you either fastened those cables to their terminals using a composite wrench or you took a lot of money from your friends playing that Operation game when you were a kid. Haha. Zap.

Do you guys know how to isolate a circuit before it is worked on?

Who cares about isolation when the DAMN posts directly on the batteries TOUCH EACH OTHER

Try this, go get a wrench and lay it across either of the 2 terminals. It will spark nicely. If some miracle of nature occurs and there is no spark, well then you're fine ...........

But I will guess that since you took the pictures down you have seen the error of this. Don't take this wrong - we're trying to make sure you rig doesn't go up in flames out on the trail!

Don't attempt the experiment Mack73 suggests unless you're wearing a full-face lid (visor down) and you don't particularly care about nicking it up.

Haha a bit tongue in cheek - but yeah not advisable... although I have done it accidently once or twice tightening battery cables... doh

I have a wrench that I plasti-dipped for using just on battery cables. It keeps in insulated so arcing doesn't happen if I accidentally hit metal with it while doing terminals. Cheap to do works well and a lot better than sparks flying everywhere.
