New CB Antenna Question

Well, after cracking my last fiberglass antenna off the 4Runner, I was in the market for a new CB antenna. I found one at Loevs a 1/4 wave steel whip with an adjustable sleve on the base for tuning. Anyone ever used one of these?

I will try to install it this week before the run Saturday, but wondered if anyone had any experience with this antenna. I have never seen an adjustable sleve or nut on the bottom.

A 1/4 on CB is 9ft, 108inches, Typically a 102 whip with a 6 inch long spring.
Never seen a stainless steel whip with a tuning section.

Never heard of a Loves antenna.. Are you sure its 1/4?

Radio Shack makes a base loaded antenna with a stainless whip, model is 21-988. It's electrically a 5/8 wavelength, about 5 feet tall and is tuned by adjusting the whip at the base. I have one as well as a Larsen NMO27. Compared to the Larsen it is heavier and works pretty well really.

Bought it at Loves, sorry, not 1/4 wave, it is only a cople feet tall. Pictures to come soon.
