I get alot of motivation from your posts and wanted to contribute what I can to the Portal........:beer:
We spent 12 days on the road in mid September and had a great time. The first night we had a real bed as we drove daylight to dark. The fall colors were barely starting down low and pretty good at higher elevations. The next few days we camped in the National Forest in Vermont on a nice dead end two track. The weather was not great but we are prepared for anything so the mood stayed positive, maybee even cocky as we have beaten rain many times. The Moose tracks next to the tent also helped keep the mood up. Bear season was open so we did not see Bear or Moose, the only people we saw were two NF Rangers who were giving their Tahoe a workout. We then headed for New Hampshire and camped along the Kancamagus Hwy in a National forest campground, it was 37* in the tent that morning. We decided not to climb Mt Washington again and headed for Maine.
The ride through NH and ME on two lane roads is a favorite of mine, but we had to be at the inlaws for dinner and some laundry so we kept moving along. The next morning we left for Acadia National park, about a half days ride up RT1 (lots of great roadside food). The inlaws have a Motorhome so we camped at a private campground across the road from them. We used their Toad to tour the park as the crowds were gone. (The shuttles work great though) Acadia was alot of fun, but 3 days was not much time, when the sun comes out this is a beautiful place. We were very frugal most of the trip but the last night in town I did eat two Maine Lobster tails while sitting at waters edge watching the sun go down...
