(I assume T.O. is Toronto), Sorry for the confusion but in this case T.O stands for Thousand Oaks California. Although I am originally from B.C Canada.

I am from (and still live) in BC. How'd you get to the "good" T.O? My dream is to not have to wear a 5mm wetsuit to surf! We spend a ton of time between SLO and Ventura and would kill (not really kill), to be able to live there full time!

I do love B.C, but I married and American and she is a native SoCal girl, so here we are. We do like Ventura county nice place to live and raise a family.

I have a QCSB Dodge. The size is perfect. But the Dodge part of the truck is well JUNK. The seats suck the steering sucks the suspension sucks. I plan to keep it and fix what I can. Buying new I would seriousl look at a Ford 6.4 and 6.7 are nice but with emmisions crap they can get bad milage.

I bought a dodge because I didn't want a 6.0 powerstroke and a 7.3 was too slow and old and I think duramax IFS has no place on a HD truck. All that was left was a dodge.

Yep, I have a cummins powered ram....

My Super Duty was by far my favorite truck, better layout of the cab, dash , more comfortable, nice ride, and no steering issues....... my 7.3 was set up pretty well, but at the time, it still wasnt fast enough enough... No I have a healthy cummins.... that I never really wind up anymore.

My ram, the only thing I DO like about it, is the 12v...

Anyway....for fact, when I sell this Cummins... I will be getting another SuperCab, shortbed 7.3 superduty.

I would stay away from the duramax, it's a good drivetrain, but from what I hear they tend to go through injectors with some degree of regularity and it's not a cheap job to replace them.

I love the 7.3 powerstrokes, but I'm not really too up to speed on the newer ford diesels, so I don't have much to add there.

I would second what many others have said here, if I were buying a diesel truck today it would have to be a Dodge with the cummins. I'm not a big fan of Dodge products in general having had some less than stellar experiences with some in the past, but the cummins would allow me to overlook that without hesitation.

The very first gen of Duramax, the LB7 had injector issues which were warranted to 200,000 miles.

I had an 05 LLY Duramax. I really like it. Great power, quite, and pretty decent mileage.

I wouldn't buy a new GM though based solely on looks. I would skip the ford. They haven't had the best track record since the 7.3 production ended. You can't beat the reliability of the Cummins, and I like the look of the Dodge so I'd have to go that way.

I've got the 2005 setup that you're looking for. I bought mine new in January, 2005 and it's got 93,000 miles on it now. At least half of those miles are with the camper on back and towing my Jeep. I love my truck. I've had very few problems with it. Both the front wheels were replaced recently. They say it might be because I have 19.5" wheels / tires on it, as opposed to the stock 16". I love that transmission in the big mountains when fully loaded. Great truck overall.

Checkout a used BigFoot camper. I've got the 2500 9.4 model. They've got a few nice setups for the short bed truck. They're out of business now (one of many RV companies that didn't survive the recession), but they've got a great reputation in the RV camper world.

Had to add, that with the current economic climate being what it is, you may be able to find a barely used, already built package deal, for a better price. Scour the craigslist and RV/Camper sites. I'm sure you've weighed new vehicle interest rates versus used, but if someone is desperate to off-load some assets at a cut-rate price, the benefit may outweigh the cost. Something to think about, anyway...good luck.
