Hi,

So, for the last few years i've been a Land Rover fan and owner (owned Defender, D1, RR 1st and 2nd generation, and the last was a Freelander, my 2nd Freelander), but, I wanted something different. After some search, I ended up buying a Jeep Grand Cherokee, 96 model... but... wait for it... wait for it... the one with the boat engine :bike_rider: (2.5 VM Diesel) lool. Yes, you have great V8 engines I know, but unfortunatelly, around here (Portugal), the taxes and the price of fuel is something to consider so, I choose the diesel one.

And here it is

That's the first time I've seen a euro-style 'swan neck' hitch on a Jeep. Purely from looking at it, it appears much weaker than the traditional american-style Class III or IV receiver hitch that would have come factory or as an aftermarket option in the states. What's the tow rating of that setup? (tongue weight/towed weight)

Hi, well, I don´t really know the tow weight because the previous owner just painted over the factory sticker, I can´t tell you if this is more or less stronger than yours. The only thing that I can say is that it will pull my caravan trailer that has a total weight of 650kg (on the tow coupling weights, well, I would say 15/20kgs, it's very light, you can lift it with 1 hand)

Here is one similar (european style) rated to 3500kg

Cheers

That's how all of the tow hitches are over in the EU. They're fairly... umm.. phallic.

LOL Yes.. It´s true but here we don´t have a choice. I can import something more american or aussie style (which I prefer by far) but after that I have to deal with law enforcements telling me that this is not legal, bla bla bla and so and so... (same reason that I do not put more lift or bigger tyres)
