Hi all

I just found this site and joined. Great site and great people. Just a bit about me. My name is Mike, early retired from hvac industry. I am in the middle of a cj8 build. Just a bit about the cj8, tdk frame/alum body/4bt 130hp inline/4l80e/ np205/d60/d70/cooper sst tires on h2 wheels. If i may one quick question, what seats do find to give the best comfort for long drives? Thanks again for the great site, I sure to be here often.

Welcome to the ExPo Mike!

For the last decade or more I've had CJ-8 envy, and your's sounds like it'll be a sweet rig. I'm also from the great NW of PA, hailing from the Titusville area. Where abouts are you located?

Sounds like a very cool setup. I had a CJ8 once upon a time but didn't do a thing with it. I regret that.

What was involved in getting the 4L80E to play nice with the 4BT?

Welcome, Mike! Sounds like a great build. Please share with the rest of us so we can have even more CJ8 envy. Post some pics of your build so we can share in your progress. Sorry, I don't have an answer for your seat question, but the seats in my Montero are pretty comfy and very adjustable.

Welcome, Mike! Add me to the Scrambler envy. :)

When I asked about seats for my TJ a while back folks mentioned reclining race seats like Corbeau Baja or Smittybilt XRC are the way to go. In the end I just got some newer Wrangler seats that weren't as completely worn out as mine and they were a night and day difference. I don't know whether TJ era seats will bolt in to a CJ.

Cheers,
Graham

I have seen your set up somewhere before. I like the way you think. I also like your big truck camper. I am also going a different route, by grafting a disco1 roof onto the cj8. Got to love dual sun roofs.

Guys, thanks for the ideas on seats. I must have tried a couple dozen sets at several salvage yards, just not sure yet.

Thanks Mike

MJB,

Glad to hear of another scrambler owner and one planning a 4BT swap. I am in the works of doing the same, I am actually going to look at a donor vehicle this afternoon. If it has a p7100 pump I will likely buy it. You should check out the cj-8 forum. There are a very good group of people on it. Not as much into overlanding as the folks on here, but a great source of info and no knuckleheads!

I wish I had a TDK frame, mine is original, but in nice shape. From your specs it sounds like you are going to have a pretty sweet 8.
