Hey everyone!

Just registered for the forum. I have a 1994 Montero SR that I just got back on the road after being non-op for 8 years(long story).

I'm a member of a couple of Mitsubishi forums but they seem to have just died as far as active helpful users. My SR has a few minor issues I need to resolve, just wondering where you guys go to get good support for these trucks, or should I just post away here?

Thanks

There is a lot of great info on 4x4wire.com, but the forum software is very antiquated and none of the photos work. It's painful, but if you have excellent Google-****, it might be helpful to you.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

There are 3 minor issues with my truck I'd like to resolve, and remember, its been sitting for 8 years, and was only started and driven around the block every few months.

1) Speedometer/odometer isn't working. I noticed this morning they did work for about 2 minutes, then quit. I've done a visual inspection of the wire going to the speed sensor but haven't pulled it or the instrument panel yet. I found some info on 4x4wire about the board on the back of the speedo burning some traces so I guess I need to take a look at it.

2) Fuel gauge needle isn't working, but the low fuel light on the dash does work. I'm guessing I'll have to get to the tank and take a look, haven't found much info on this.

3) Locking front hub indicator lights flash randomly at times, without touching the lever. Not sure what is going on here, some kind of sensor malfuction? Also, I can't remember what the normal status of the rear indicator lights should be in 2H. They are currently off.

Any pointers or ideas you guys have would be great!

Thanks!

May be your instrument cluster if both the speedo and fuel aren't working...

Cycle your transfer case... probably just a stuck solenoid not indicating it's in 2WD when it should be.

I have tried to cycle through the transfer case a few times, doesn't seem to help. I'll look for the solenoid and try to determine if its operating normally.

4x4wire has a posted write-up on troubleshooting the CAD system. It's in the Mitsu Tech forum's FAQ post near the top of the forum posts. Might be a worthwhile read.

I should add that there's an access panel in the rear floor for the gas tank pump and fuel level sending unit.

I had to cycle my 4wd system 50 or 60 times before it all ran in OK. It can take a bit to shake all the crap off the sensor heads.
