Howdy folks, NHwendell here . I am interested in unimogs. I would like to talk with folks that own them and /or know about them. I have many questions.

Hi fella, and welcome. You're in the right place here! I run an MK/SK not a Mog, but there's plenty here that run Mogs. Perhaps post a list of questions.. :)

A Pinz was never on our list really, very rare here in Australia. I was looking for a smaller Unimog when my U1250 came up on auction. I wanted a Unimog because it was the most capable off road truck there is. A camper truck is close to or at GVM all the time. The Fusos and other Japanese trucks are road trucks with 4wd added. Unimogs are designed to work off road fully loaded 100% of the time, not sure if any other truck is designed to operate under those conditions.

No Mog in my garage (in fact I don´t have a garage ;) ) I´m still dreaming trucks, currently my shortlist is: MB LAF 1113 B, MB Unimog 1300L, Steyr 12M18 or maybe MB 1017/1019/1222 AF.
I´m still trying to outweigh the additional expense to swap a LAF 1113/911 or a 1017/1019/1022 to supersingels, compared to the mechanical complexity of a Unimog or Steyr that comes with SS, towards ie. the LAF 1113. . . . Plus I would want a DOKA, and Mog DOKAs are rare. My current state of mind is to go with a LAF 1113 DOKA.

Welcome Kamarul! A Malaysian Mog! Brilliant. Looking forward to following the build. A very good starting place for you would be to read Ian_U1250's build thread on his Mog. He commented earlier in this thread. :)

Thank you fellas for your response. What caused you to choose a Unimog over a Pinzgauer?
Through the yrs I've had VW's, Rovers, Domestic Vans, and even 710K+712K Pinzgauers. No matter how I built/outfitted them they were never big enough or could do what I wanted them to do or haul. I think the natural progression is to move towards a Unimog in the end. I have a U1300 now and am ecstatic with it. For all of it's faults...they can be fixed or upgraded if needed. There is not alot of aftermarket support for the Pinzy's either so unless you are an engineer or very crafty then you might be disappointed with the end result. Good luck!
