That's one of the nicest renovations and modifications that I've seen on a military trailer. Very clean. Good work.

SavageSun,

Nice to see you over here. It's always nice to have more Jeep knowledge around. Expedition driving is what brought me over here as well.

Hey Don......since we seem to keep following each other around on the boards as well as with our expo preparations.....we might as well figure out how to run a trail together :D

Welcome aboard :)

Kind of like you Robert the rocks are fun but I am wanting to spend some more time out there, do some exploring and see things.

There are some long and remote trails out there and as I get my Jeep developed we will hook up for sure...

New guy here who is slowly transitioning from rock crawling to expedition adventures or maybe a little of both.
Hope to meet up with some of you as time goes by.:)

Welcome to the site. There are more and more of us who are leaving the rocks behind in favor of more relaxed trips.

Nice to see more TJ's showing up. For a while, I was the sole TJ in a sea of white toyotas.

Welcome aboard. How'd your Jeep get the Cowboy moniker?
Long story, but I will try to make it short.

Don Merdith and I went to the same school, SMU. He was the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys...I am also from Dalls. So I picked up the moniker of "Cowboy" in my military career.

Couple of years ago, I moved out to Scottsdale, AZ, the desert. I was talking to a friend of mine on the fone, back in Texas. He asked if it was hot out there. I said, "I thought I knew hot bing from Texas, but this sun out here is SAVAGE!" My buddy laughed and said, "well Cowboy, guess we will have to start calling you SavageSun from now on." Hence, SavageSun and in writing about my Jeep it seems everyone gives their Jeep some kind of name....so I just called it "Cowboy". :gunt:

Here was your chance to enthrall us with your tale of rustling cattle with your Jeep or about how you used it to gentle broncos, but instead you decide to be honest. What is the online world coming to?:shakin:

Welcome! You've come to the right place. These guys are a wealth of knowledge always willing to help
Yes, there are some good folks on here, several of which I have come across on other forums.

I also sense a beginning trend of folks like ourselves moving on to other adventures...or the "expedition" type travels.

I think the challenge of building a safe and reliable rig is a daunting one. The requirements begin to change when you want to challenge a trail that will take a week to travel and offer up many challenges along the way that task you and the rig.

To put it in a different context, its like drag racing Vs the 24 hr of LeMans. Build the engine to last a few seconds Vs 24 hr, both of which are flat out racing.

Not selling either one short Vs the other as I certainly paid my dues on the racing circuit with a '64 Corvette running C Sports back in the days.
