I have been researching new lights for my jeep to replace LEDs back to halogens. I just placed my order for Hella super 7s and hella 2.0 blubs in H4 to go with them. If the bulbs don't impress me, as they did in my patriot and my brothers expy, I will get the Osram ones. But I will try the Hellas first as they are easy to get here in town, and i get warranty over the counter with them if one fails.

I will take a little reduction in performance for ease of bulb replacement. i was talking to hella and they told me the super 7s are the ECE with a few tweaks to fix the highs to highs and lows to low issues with the ECE. So they put out more useable light on highbeam and more useable light on low beams. Sounds like a winner to me. Now, to get some wiring done to power the bulbs with full power.

I have a set of 7" Hella headlights that I have saved since probably the late 70's. The car they were on is long gone, but the lights were so good that I kept them. Don't know that I will ever be able to use them again, but I loved them.

I just read back through my first post....It sounded like the 2.0s did not impress me....They are fantastic bulbs in both my patriot and my brothers expedition. There is a very noticeable increase in light output on the road in the nighttime with them.

I have the Cibie equivalents with a upgraded harness and 90/130w bulbs. Very good, reliable, cost efficient package.

Well my lights arrived today. I have to keep my truck lite anti flicker in line for now, until I get the harness from Ray. I am not sure yet if they are super 7s or just E codes. My local dealer ordered them in. I like supporting them as they have been great to me. So I am picking them up today and going for a run tonight to see how they work! Either way, I have 55w/65w performance 2.0s going in. I love these bulbs for regular power lights. They work awesome in both my patriot, and my brother 2007 epxy. I am going to install a set into my F150 as well.

Well, they are ECE's which is totally fine. I got them installed. fired up with the 2.0s and with the eyeball test on the wall they are comparable to the Truck lites in brightness, but without the artifacts....nice smooth beam. I am going to like them.

I cannot wait to get out in the dark tonight to give them a good test and aim. The low beams I think are going to be much better than the TL's, and highbeam will be as good, but they all get drowned out by my HID Hella driving lights sooooo I am going to be pleased with these...and now if I drop a bulb its just replace the bulb instead of the full light. I am on my 5 TL light now. I am after replacing 3 for various reasons.

When I tested those lamps the Philips bulbs did better than the Osram for some reason. My hypothesis was the focus of the bulb.
The highbeam lit up houses in the next neighborhood. It was remarkable.

When I get out tonight Bill I will let you know how the 2.0s do in them. I have a fairly good idea how far my truck lites tossed light, so I can give a fair comparison....I know low beam will be better just by looking at the pattern on the garage door. The hella is more even, and No hot cold spots. Plus, now, if i drop a light, its just a bulb insetead of trying to find a full light to replace. Anyone who says LED are a lifetime investment, DONT believe them.

Oh, I found the same thing when comparing the stock bulbs and the hella 2.0s in my patriot. The 2.0s just put out more light everywhere (in the right places, not stray crap), and the beam seems wider on low beam too....

I took my jeep out for a test run. First thing i noticed was the smooth beam, and the ditch lighting. Its great. The color of the lights are much nicer than the TL's. Which now, using halogens again, were quite blue. On high beam, just as Bill described, they are LONG! Not quite as bright as the truck lites on high beam but the beam on these go farther out thats for sure! Now, I am not running a harness yet. I am going to make one up to run battery power to the bulbs next week. I should get a good bump in power from them. I kept my truck lite anti flicker for harness between the jeep and lights. So what I am going to do is make up a harness from the output of the truck lights, into the relays of the harness then power from battery to the bulbs. Straight forward. I will report back when I get this done. I expect a more powerful beam with clean power going to the lights.

Well, I took my first REAL drive last night with the e codes. I had to pick my son up at the airport which was a good hr away at 2:30am. All I can say is WOW! You think they are not as bright as the Fancy LED lights. Until you start noticing things. I did this drive many many times so I know pretty well what my TL's lit up etc. The ecodes get farther out into the ditch on the right hand side, and on high beam, they are VERY VERY strong. For the total cost of 170 bucks with the 2.0 lights which were 50.00 bucks This is a much better upgrade than LEDs. Even removing the costs. Its Just awesome. I am liking these ALOT!
