New here looking for ideas for my 95 Ram

Hi guys I just signed up to the forum and have been looking around a little bit. I have a 95 Ram single cab short bed truck. It has 1 ton axles and suspension, and is V10 backed up by an NV4500 5-speed. I swapped the HD parts onto what started as a 1/2 ton Ram with a tired 5.2L V8.

I've been looking around at options for some kind of lightweight shelter for it. There are lots of cool ideas here and I'm still looking around, just thought I'd say hi in the meantime and see if anyone wants to offer up their advice on what would work. I don't have a lot to spend on the truck right now. I saw this today and on craigslist and like it a lot, it doesn't seem like it would be too hard to build either:

I had an all steel camper shell on it, bought it for $100 it was off a CHP truck. Unfortunately I traded the Ram for a Toyota 4x4 a few years back, only to buy the Ram back again about a year ago. When I bought it back the shell was gone. If I could find one of those again that would be great, but everyone wants too much $$ for utility shells now. Does anyone know where I might be able to source a used CHP shell?

Shortbed, 1 tons, v10? Wow, this thing is pretty cool! Im a diesel guy myself but I would be building that into a crawler! Im interested to see what you end up with and like the concept. The hummer wheels look great!!

Hey D, glad to see ur gonna put the truck to use and not trade it off again. I have done quite a bit of work to the sammi since i got it back.

As for a shelter i use a m202 military radio shelter, stays warm, bit of storage, and fits a futon mattress.

Ill see if i can drum up some pics tomorrow.

N, good to hear from you! Glad you got the sammi back. We each put so much work into these rigs! Still working on smog.. I replaced the front shocks, made a huge difference! Would love to see some pics of what you've done to the sammi, the radio shelter too.

I check out Spencinator's Ram, that thing is great! Might have to steal some ideas...

I have had my eye on the Carli starter kit, can anyone give any input as to how it compares to the Kore starter kit?

Also on the list are new front hubs, or maybe the conversion, a steering box brace and a 3rd gen track bar conversion.

I found a couple ARE canopies on CL, but hubs and steering upgrades are likely to come first.

Awesome truck man. If I wasn't planning on kids in the future I would have something like that. The Carli kits are higher quality than the Kore stuff (so is their customer service). Good luck on finding a shell. I look forward to the progress.
