just wanted to introduce myself and my heep. i'm travis and i'm wheeling a 01 sahara. i was wanting to build it for rocks and heavy duty trails...but i live in south alabama where we have none haha. so i've recently gotten into camping with the wife and we are using my jeep to just explore any trails, haul kayaks and what not. i would love to build my rig as more as a short expedition/camping vehicle, so if you have any advice please feel free to shoot it my way..
as for my jeep and how it sits now its been lifted 4", i put 33" tires on it, annd some recovery gear and what not. i'm planning on putting a roof rack on it asap along with making the interior more organized for gear and stuff.

I do a lot of wheeling with my TJ. I have found the trick for me was to go real small with everything. That got old so recently bought a Tentrax which has made my adventures and hunting trips a lot more enjoyable. I can pull it over the rocks when we decide to play a little. I really enjoy camping out of a Jeep. Nice and simple.

Have fun!

Nothing special
Welcome to ExPo. What big things do you have planned for the TJ?

Is there good wheeling in Alabama? I'm only been to Aniston, so I don't have a good concept of the whole state.

Nice Tj "the59sound" I see you are from LA (as I tell my friends) grew up there my self. Does everyone still wave at cha whether they know you or not? I miss the clay dirt roads which are a blast in the rain and only a day ride to Tenn and NC. I migrated out after college and ended up in Florida, but just recently in Austin, Texas as well. Welcome

B1000 - Thanks! up next on mods i'm doing a sye and drive shaft, and changing the clutch and pressure plate. then i'm going to get a kargo master roof rack...or one like it so i can carry gear for camping in the basket or take the basket off and carry kayaks. As for the wheeling in south alabama its flat...really flat. the most excitement we get around here is mud and it gets old quick. Now around the birmingham area (3.5 hours north of me) there is some good places to ride but its not really worth the gas and time imo.

sneakytj - what part did you grow up at? and as for the waves...ehh anyone not in a jk usually waves, but all the jk's around here are soccer moms in sahara jku's. do you travel back and forth between FL and TX?

Grew up in the southeast corner around Enterprise and New Brockton. I will be going back and forth to Florida on vacation in a couple of months to see family and friends. Hope to make a trip back around thanksgiving or Christmas and should be stopping by "LA" on the way. My TJ is sitting in Florida awaiting my return, plan to bring her back along with the M416.... having withdrawal syndrome... too much work not enough adventure.
