I'll play. My first attempt at haiku:
"winding green lane
black rubber grabs the earth
to soil the oval"

I'll post some more novice attempts as time allows.

I call this one Od'e to the Camel

"Jungle mist is still
lights crashing through green darkness
awakens canopy"

I'm taking artistic liberties with the 5-7-5 rule.

Just for kicks...

"Broken down on road
no spare and nowhere to go
next time Toyota"

Before the flames start I just want to say I love my Rangie and it's never left me stranded.

I have over 100 Haiku's I've written. I always stick with the traditional 5-7-5. Here's a few:

Like a giant brush,
the wind paints a path through the
dry, colorful leaves.

The breeze reminds me
of your infinite arms....and
my thoughts drift to you.

Hours before sunrise,
The soul is most untethered
from the man's body.

Leave regret behind.
Fly, while you still have your wings.
Time waits for no one.

My thoughts vacillate;
Trapped like a moth in the light,
Waiting for sunrise.

Like a hurricane
spun from the butterfly's wings;
so has our love grown.

Your war is deceit,
But in my hand you will find
The scorpion sleeps.

Prepare not for the
day your child smiles and walks off,
but for his return.

As I walk through the
dark, thick fog, I enter a
world that wants no men.

As I train to fight,
I gain inner peace, knowing
Fear comes not from men.

A world growing worse
Day by day, and to my son
My pride hides my fear.

The smallest things can
Remind me of you, and I
Recall all our love.

Like little machines,
We maintain our existence,
But we never live.
