New Member and My Jeep

Hello All, My name is Kevin and as most, have been reading the fourm for a while now and thought it was high time I joined. I am retired from the Air Force (24 years worth) and just loving life right now. I bought my jeep with the intention of using it for traveling the all the back roads of our great country. I'm not into rock crawling but more into adventure and out of the way places. I figured this was a good place to start and let you guys see what I'm working on.

This is the ole girl as she sat stock, well except for the sticker, her first mod!!!

Not long after, she recieved a 3.5" Rubicon Express lift and 32" BFG AT's on American Racing Outlaw II wheels, along with nerf bars so the wife can actually get in the jeep.

Along with the lift, I had Rancho 9000 shocks put on, I like the idea of being able to ajust the ride.

With the 3.07 gears and new shoes, she needed a litle more get up and go, so I installed a K&N system and a high flow muffler. It sure made a difference in performance however not in mileage.

Of course you have to have the Hi-Lift Jack, I installed mine insde between the roll cage for now.

I knew I wanted a new front bumper, so I got with our local fab guy and we created this one, I must give a plug to your local fab guy, they can usually make most any design you want, and better than any off the shelf thing you can order. (if he is worth his salt!!) Also installed 4 Hella off road lights.

Not long after the bumper was done, it was looking pretty empty, I got a good deal on a 8000 lbs Warn winch, and the wife let me have it.

We are currently in the process of building a custom rear bumper/tire/gas can carrier. I'll post some pics of the build and completed project later.

Well thats me and my ride, hope to see you guys out there one day, exploring our great country!!!

Use the controls on the right side of the webshots page to select the size of the image you want (bellow I used the 600 pixel), then copy the URL where it says "direct link to picture"
Then follow the steps from this thread... http://expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2376

Hi Kevin and welcome. It sounds like your intentions with the Jeep mirror mine. Might I inquire about those flares? They look like what I need.

Also my grateful thanks as well for your service in the AF.

Welcome...I'm new to this site myself, but am enjoying it very much!

That's a good looking Jeep you have there!

I'll be driving all over the U.S. for 6 months next year and will be avoiding interstates as much as possible. Any suggestions on backroads that are nice drives in your State?

Welcome!

Thank you for your many years of service in the USAF. (I was stationed in Mountain Home).

My brother was stationed in Mountain Home a couple of times. Did you know a Terry McCaffrey “Marco”? The first time he was an F-111 driver, and the 2nd time he was a wing commander. I think that’s what it was called.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Red Dog, the flairs are Rugged Ridge, the quality is very good and they matched right up, very easy install.

Wish I could say I was an officer (retirement pay would had been that much better) however had a great time while I was in, trained and worked police dogs my whole career (bomb, drug and patrol). Never made it to Mountain Home, though think it would have been a great assignment.
