..just dropped in and wanted to say hi!

Stumbled upon this forum when i was looking into solutions for a Series-snorkel... :snorkel: ....i've posted some photo's in the snorkel-thread below..

For 4 years now i'm the proud owner of a 1977 SIII 88, fitted with a 2.25L Petrol/LPG engine, named 'boesman'. Since then a lot has changed as the prior owner left it standing under a tree for a couple of years.

current status (although....no snorkel here yet....)

i've (a.o.) overhauled brakes, axels, suspension, electrics and reworked the interior, fitted a winch, wheels, snorkel, roofrack, lights, tow hitch, bushwires, (noise)insolation and various protection-bits... i'm sure this list isn't complete ;) i'm putting this Series to work, using it for work-related trips, going offroad and travel through Europe (holland, belgium, germany, france, norway up till now)...visit http://boesmans.web-log.nl for additional information....visual that is, this site is in dutch :sombrero:

i've enjoyed looking at your (offroad) pictures, hope you enjoy mine...

Awesome looking truck! Since I am still somewhat of a LR rookie, over in the Europe they kept producing the Series trucks, along with the Defender through the 80s?

the 88 has been produced up till '85... the 109 was replaced by the 110 in '84, followed by the 90 in '85

from (i believe) '91/'92 on the 90 and 110 have been labeled 'defender' (the first models simply '90' and '110')

mine has left the factory in '77...

I gotcha, I was confused by the SIII 88 part, I though it was a 1988 model, it is in fact a 1977 SII 88 (assuming thats the wheelbase?).

Either way beautiful truck!

it's in fact a Series III, 88 inch (the godfather of the 90-inch defender..)

a SII is ao to be recognized by the headlamps between the wings, a different grill, other door hinges, etcetc

:smiley_drive:
