New Member Intro - 2004 'Burban

Just wanted to make an "intro." I looked but did not see a section dedicated to this. I have been lurking for some time and finally decided to join up. My name is Jason, and I like candle lit dinners and long walks on the beach. Seriously though, I suffer from a wife who does not like camping. I also have a brood of young children. I am interested in getting back into camping as it has been years since I have gone.

Any how, I just bought a 2004 Burban 1500 LT. It has 75k and is bone stock. I am looking to add a few basic items now, and will eventually inherit this from SWMBO in a couple of years, which is when the real build will begin. The problem I'm having is that it has been a few years since I have owned a full size chevy. Where are the best places to get accessories from? I would like to put a leveling kit, new wheels and tires, a roof rack, and possibly a new front bumper. I am also not opposed to building a front bumper and rack. The wife wants me to add remote start and an entertainment system, as this is her daily kid hauler.

Thanks for any input and I'm looking forward to becoming a part of the community.

looks like a good buy. Congrats. ive got an 04 burban myself. I love it. I have started buying material for my homemade roof rack so I will share details when that project starts. Good luck with your build.

I lifted the rear of mine by using Hummer H2 springs. I bought them at GM Parts Direct for $182.00 as I recall. I still have to raise the front. I run 285/75x16 tires (32.8" tall) on stock aluminum wheels. I am looking for bigger 3/4 ton torsion bars for the front to level it some. I have to research this more because my Suburbans torsion bars are 42" long and GM truck t-bars are 45" long. I want to be able to slide under and change the oil without jacking it up. After my G80 factory limited slip/locker blew up I swapped in an open carrier with a Lock-Right soft locker. Eventually I will swap in a semi-float 14 bolt 5 link rear axle with the six lug bolt pattern. There are some out there now in limited applications, but will be plentiful soon because GM is using them in all their V8 powered direct injected engines starting with the new body style Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade. I will mostly use this as a mild dirt road cruiser and leave it pretty much stock otherwise. I have other vehicles for more serious terrain.
