Hey everyone! New to the forum here with a 99 k1500 suburban. Been looking for a new "thing" to get in to and since I love to travel and been in the off road world with my Jeep's I figured I'd get in to expedition travels with my family. My wife's idea of camping involves ac and tv lol. We recently moved from Wyoming back to my home town in Kansas so I'm hoping to build my burban up for daily use(we have 4kids) and hitting the highway on the weekends to go explore places hit the back camping spots at the lake,go to Colorado to our old hang outs we went with the Jeep but not doing the hard crawling part or hitting the muddy back roads on the family land and just camping in the hay feild. Been doing lots of reading today and I'm thinking I might need to sell my 1500 and get a 2500 but that's not really doable so I'll have to work with what I have. Getting a ranch hand front and rear bumper in the next few weeks and a 10k winch on a reciver mount. Also planning a dual battery set up,snorkel and of course some suspension and tires. I know there is 101 ways to set it up but here is what I'm thinking of doing and if anyone has some suggestions or input for a newbie please feel free to inform me lol. Suspension will be a rough country 4 inch lift and 33 inch tires on the stock 17 inch steel wheels I have now that came off a 17 pickup. not sure what to do with the drive train as I'm still searching but planning on front end stuff like ucas ball joints, pitman arm and upgraded cv axles etc. I know I'll need to add a bigger trans cooler and that the 4l60e will need to be rebuilt and the rear end addressed but I still need to see what rear end i have. I Will be adding a roof rack with cargo box and basket. Some off road lighting for all situations and of course the nessary things for living out in nature. Once I figure out how to post pictures I'll put one up of the burb.

Welcome and good to see other K1500s out there. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the K1500 and unless you plan in doing burn outs and going out of your way to destroy the truck everytime you take it on an adventure or plan on pulling a 4 horse trailer with you on all your adventures your K1500 will be more than adequate for all your adventure needs. There are 101 ways to mod your truck and every way is unique to you and your needs, there is no wrong way to modify it just a wrong way of driving it. I have a '00 K1500 with level kit ($55) and 37s and have taken it on more adventures last month with no issues than most K2500 owners in the last year.

Lets see some pics of what you have and your progress.

PS: don't listen to anyone that tells you it can't be done, they are too scare to try.
