New Nitto Trail Grappler M/T Tires

Looks like a nice set of tires. Sizes look to be a bit limited though.

Heck yeah I'm a Nitto fiend how did I not know these were coming? Tey look good and I would be happy to run the 285/16's or the 295/17's :). Set to release Sept. 2009 Yeaaah.

Neat looking tires, too bad they don't really come in any usable sizes for our segment. They appear to more of the "let's make my H2 LOOK like it'll go off-road" segment...

Cheers

What are Tractos For? How do you figure? There is a small 33" perhaps a 32" (285/16), a full 33" in a 17 and a 35" in a 17, I feel those are all in our segment as I can run them all. :victory:

Great looking tire, hope it isn't like most of there tires though. Nitto's have a bad rep for short service life.

On which tires? I'm on my 2nd set of At's and they are cranking out 40-50K. I know the MT's they had weren't great but there a MT.

Hey

Good looking tire. I bought back in spring, the Terra Grapplers in a 295/17 and they are holding up good and have good road manners, I haven't had them on anything much worse than unimproved/semi abandoned dirt roads. I think they would be a little weak in the much department. For that, these trail grappler MT's might be just the ticket. I like the sidewall attention.

Oh pete you are so far from the truth, the Terra's are fine in everything except sticky mud (or clay, but most tires suck in clay) They are fin rock crawlers on a DD or expo rig, they are fine in the mud here in FL, the mud in GA,SC and other places where it's like grease when wet it is not so fine. Collectively I've had 5 sets of Nitto's and a slough of others. I have had an offroad set but typically something very agressive but the Nitto will go where you point them and not ask why.

Just ask anyone who wheels these tires and they will tell you mostly the same, apparently there are a few that are not impressed with the snow traction but I had no problems.

As for the release of the MT I"m excited, Nitto does have very affordable tires.

I love my Nitto A/T's and have no complaints about them. I have thrown them through mud holes in NC and across slickrock in AZ and have no complaints. So far I have about 20K on my set and they look like they are easily good to go for at least 20K more. Which is kind of disappointing 'cause I really, REALLY like the new tires. I probably will get the M/Ts when the time comes to replace the A/Ts.

Hey

xcmountain80,

Well at least that makes me feel better; like I said in my post, they are still relatively new and haven't seen much off road or real muddy conditions. Being technicially an AT, I thought they might be limited in their MUD capability as compared to a dedicated Mud tire. My old 94 Suburban 4x4 had the Hankook MT's (235/85/16) which was very good in mud, snow etc. I will test them in our Kansas mud, the next chance I get.

They are a great over all performer and destined to do what you ask, there are limitations as you know with an AT, vs a MT but not as many as you might think. A dedicated MT will pull, shed, and claw far better but they have their trade offs as we all know. There has yet to be a perfect tire, though I'm hearing great things about the KM2.
