I used to love my old '90 4runner seats, so I found some to put in the Tacoma. A little rough in some spots, but seat covers are on the way!
Unfortunately, the seatbelts from the Tacoma DO NOT work with the receivers from the 4runner. They clip in just fine, but jiggle it around a little and it will pop right out = very dangerous!
The rear mounts needed the most work, with a little extension welded on the outboard rear foot. The inner foot required a new hole drilled in the floor and a 1 inch spacer between. I have a couple of 3 inch diameter heavy duty washers under the body for support to prevent pull-through if in an accident. The 4runner seatbelt receiver filled the original seat bolt hole on the driveshaft tunnel quite nicely. (The seatbelt idiot light does not connect, but I dont need the reminding and the light is not on when disconnected.)
Here you can see the outboard rear foot (the last 1 1/2 inches is a peice of angle iron welded on)
The front feet just needed a little adjustment with a hammer to fit nicely. The inboard front foot needed a new bolt hole which required welding/filling the old one.
The old dark gray plastic trim matches the Tacoma interior quite well, and a Tuffy security console is going here soon. In addition to the coverking ballistic cordura seat covers in the mail is a new all vinyl floor liner! Stay tuned folks!!!
To add, the driver's seat has to come out and the original back in for now until I find a solution to the seatbelt problem!
