Hello,

I'm new to the forum.

I bought a low mileage stock 4th Gen 4 Runner. Pictures posted below. I've replaced the passenger mirror but otherwise the car is extremely clean. The next task is to get new tires, originals are worn and need replacement but thinking of going up to something bigger like 265 70 17's Hankook or Nitto.

As it is a sport edition, this 4R is equipped with XREAS. Will I be able to fit the 265 70 17's without a suspension lift? otherwise, i assume i have to remove XREAS and put coil overs on the vehicle and possibly UCA's. I do mostly onroad driving but some offroading to camp and hunt here in the Northeast. Good handling on the highway in rain is essential. I've been through many of the threads on this site and other 4runner sites. But looking for answers on putting the larger tires on without a lift.

Also thinking of removing the Mantik tubular bumper and side steps that are currently on the vehicle and adding something a little more functional up front with a winch and some sliders.. Any thoughts?

I look forward to sharing my experiences and learning from the experiences of others as well.

Thanks

Bill

Running 265/70-17 Bridgestone Revo 2's on my wife's 4Runner, also a 2003 V8 Sport Edition. With stock suspension, they rubbed on some of the plastic fenderwell liner in the front when hitting bumps with the wheels turned. Some slight trimming cured that issue. After about a year I installed a small spacer lift (2" front, 1" rear I believe) to level out the stinkbug look, and the truck now looks and rides perfect IMO.
