just been apprached by guy who wants a 100" landy camper building.
he as an mot failed disco 300tdi body is beyond salvage but mechanicals are a1.
idea is to use rolling chassis and fit defender front with custom rear body.
what would you include if building from scratch?
he is planning on going from uk to aus via europe us asia.
winch is going to removable so can be used front and rear.
hoping to get started end of month so will put pics up when i get vehicle here.

cheers

So he's thinking about a 100" dormobile type vehicle vs the 109/110? 100" seems a bit short for anything other than an SUV (ie. Dormobile, truck etc.). Can you stretch the wheel base out or will that decrease your MOT points too much? Of course, over there, I bet 110s and 130s are so prevelant you probably just go buy one rather than build one like over here.

hes using 100" chasis as his is in good nick and so are all mechanicals.
to get defender chassis etc in good nick would cost absolute fortune.
bits are silly prices at mo and i have a 90 with smashed back end thanks to drunk driver.
so we have most of body bits as well.

tried talking him into s3 amby like one i used to have but he wants it disco based.
lengthening chassis not an option really due to sva regs

While I agree that 100" is pretty short, one of the things I would include would be the ability to sleep inside. That may be a stretch depending on rear overhang/departure angles, but I would really want to be able to sleep inside. Pop-top for venting and air flow.

which seats/interior bits are you planning on using? defender or series bulkhead or keeping the disco one?
