New to all this! And a Disco

Hi there guys, I'm pretty new to all of this so after some input.

Just bought my first personal 4x4 vehicle, although I have a bit of experience doing off-roading in other people's trucks, so I'm just starting to put together my own set of equipment.

I like the whole overlanding idea, I'm into camping, hunting, Bushcraft, etc etc, and it helps I live in New Zealand so have plenty of access to some cool places.

I mainly need help with some basic mods, recovery gear, and any specific things I should be doing.

The Landy is a 93 Disco, manual, 200tdi, with just over 200ks(120 miles) on it.
Has had a lift, on some steel wheels with 33s, had a crappy bullbar, some gauges that need to be wired up, a snorkel, and a CB radio. That's pretty much it as far as I know.
It got a thorough cleaning when I got it a few days ago, replaced the leaking rocker cover gasket, and it'll be getting a service soon when the filter set I ordered turns up.

Main thing I'm planning on doing soon is deleting the exhaust gas recirculating unit off of it, as I read it dirties the intake up pretty bad.

Thanks in advance,
Sean

Lovely vehicle :chef:

Try the OJ build thread they did a while back. Good starting point.
You could also check out the old camel trophy specs, They did a good job over a few years of figuring out what works and what does not.

Keep it light but with good protection. Good recovery points, buy some shackels, and a snatch strap (ARB would probably be a good price in your market).
Who did the snorkel? If it wasn't a good shop maybe service that bad boy and make sure the seals are good.
Filters and fluids are always a good thing to do when you purchase a vehicle ;)

Thanks mate!
As I started pulling things out I got a nice wee surprise in the form of some rust hiding in the left hand sill behind the plastic running board, which has been fixed as of this weekend!
Getting ready to do a full fluid change, just waiting on filters.
Wired up the gauges this weekend, removed the EGR unit, and realised both left hand springs are sagging a little, so am pricing up some different sets at the moment.
Then tyres will be next, most likely followed by a winch!

Cheers,
Sean
