I just purchased a 2000 quad cab Dakota 4wd. 140,000 km,s. It came with a safety inspection, mandatory in our province and I bought it from one of those smaller used car lots. Sold my 98 XJ I had been turning into an expedition type vehicle. Well I took it to Costco and had a new set set of 31-10.5 15 inch BFG,s installed. Anyway, I took it to a garage I trust and sure enough the front rotors were almost worn out, 1 ball joint was shot along with the steering rack. I got slightly burned .The plan is to turn the Dodge into my expedition vehicle. I went to far on the XJ and will keep the Dodge mostly stock. First i bought a used truck cap for it and painted it with Duraliner. i also bought and installed a receiver hitch to pull my small home made camper on 31 - 10.50,s. It got a 7 pin plug and I will hook it up to run the electric brakes on the trailer and charge the trailer battery. I also have a 2nd sealed battery which will be mounted in the front corner of the box and hooked to an electronic dual battery system which isolates the 2 batteries and also allows you to jump start yourself if needed. A Viar compressor will also be installed in the back. Here,s a picture of the start.
This was taken just after buying the truck at a blues music festival the wife and I went to. The Dodge runs the 4.7 V8. You can hardly tell its towing the trailer, I made it to tow behind the XJ and it is almost exactly the same width as the Dakota cab with the outside wheels being very close to the width of the truck.
