Cleaned up a bit.jpgOne Legger.jpgHead Gasket Set.jpgcan you say Carbon.jpgPCV Retirement.jpgHello All,

My first experience with a 4X4 has been quite an experience..bought it from a College Girl who wanted something more economical. She knew when to jump ship..lol I have done a full Head Gasket Set( My first, probably last) due to the Mrs. driving on the freeway for 5 or so miles without the lower radiator hose being connected the third day I owned it. scraped a TON of Oil, Dirt and Crud off the engine block. Replaced,Spliced, and wrapped 40% of the engine wire harness, sucked out a quart or so of Coolant/Oil from the Valley in between the heads,Plugs, Plug wires,PCV Valve disintegrated in my hand during inspection, and am forgetting several other things at the moment...I feel like I have had this neglected rig for years, not months at this point, yet have only been able to drive it a few weeks.

I am finishing my current stretch of repairs with the Timing belt replacement which I will start as soon as I start twitching from this ridiculously Strong coffee. I chose to delay it with the initial Head Gasket install after close inspection, and it showing zero signs of cracking, rounded teeth, etc..( and the $ already invested...)...Only to get it going for the day last Saturday, finally testing out the 4x4, which was very smooth, and Sunday morning being greeted with it cranking, but not firing. since then it been several days of diagnosis (Coil Pack, TPS, Crank/Cam Sensors) I believe I slipped a tooth, regardless, it needs to be changed. Any suggestions on components/processes to try out are welcome!

I also think the plug on coil order she had was not correct, as I heard a slight Miss, and have found 4 that claim to be the "Right" one for my model lol. "524163*, 521436,254361,254163. The first was the order I had it running last Saturday, anyone here with this Engine, or knowledge of, feel free to help with that issue, that would be excellent.

I have a ton of pics ,and have really enjoyed my Rig so far, learned alot, have nearly a binder full of diagrams, how to's, troubleshooting, and removal/installation of nearly every component. I am ready to fill the back with camping.fishing gear and play a little haha... I am glad I found this forum, the posts that I have read has shown me there is some knowledge floating around..

welcome to the club! a couple of things you might want to look into if you haven't already. Go over and check out the mitsu section on 4x4wire.com. From there, or even before that, visit www.mitsubishilinks.com, finally hit up the the searches. chances are every problem you're having, someone has already had. Will make your life much easier.

there should be something on mitsubishilinks that has the correct firing order. I'm not sure what engine is in the 95, but in my 99, all the plug wires really only go to one place in the coil packs, due to the length of the wire.

I will definitely check out www.mitsubishilinks.com. Thanks for your suggestions nckwltn!

I have the 3.0l 24 Valve SOHC.

I am now thinking I may have the correct order, but may be off on timing. I have spark, and fuel, but am getting a backfire when cranking. It has come very close to firing. I am going to once again open up the front, and look at the timing marks to verify. Any tips or tricks in relation to the Timing on these engines is welcome!

Since the last post in April, along with adjusting the timing again, ( third times a charm) I finally found my culprit to be my Camshaft Position Sensor failing intermittently... Fired right up when replaced, A Tranny Flush, also replacing every other fluid for good measure, A crash course in Valve Stem Seal replacement, And my first trip to the dealer for rear camshaft plug O rings. I am now the dutch boy that plugged one leak, then another, etc. Every single seal and gasket has been replaced but one, the oil pan. I have been searching several forums, which all have been a godsend for fixing up this issue or that, for a procedure for replacement this gasket. I live in an apartment complex, and do not have the ability to ( per my Chilton, and Alldata resources) lift the engine 6-9 inches for the clearance needed to remove the pan.

Is there a way to replace this without a lift or hoist on the 95 LS? I have contemplated a jack from below, but have resurrected this beast from life support to a solid runner, and one that I know inside and out now. I don't want to risk any damage , but the pan is leaking a decent spot each morning I come out to head to work. Hoping i have mussed a kick *** thread , andLook forward to hearing any advice or ideas.
