My first experience with a 4X4 has been quite an experience..bought it from a College Girl who wanted something more economical. She knew when to jump ship..lol I have done a full Head Gasket Set( My first, probably last) due to the Mrs. driving on the freeway for 5 or so miles without the lower radiator hose being connected the third day I owned it. scraped a TON of Oil, Dirt and Crud off the engine block. Replaced,Spliced, and wrapped 40% of the engine wire harness, sucked out a quart or so of Coolant/Oil from the Valley in between the heads,Plugs, Plug wires,PCV Valve disintegrated in my hand during inspection, and am forgetting several other things at the moment...I feel like I have had this neglected rig for years, not months at this point, yet have only been able to drive it a few weeks.
I am finishing my current stretch of repairs with the Timing belt replacement which I will start as soon as I start twitching from this ridiculously Strong coffee. I chose to delay it with the initial Head Gasket install after close inspection, and it showing zero signs of cracking, rounded teeth, etc..( and the $ already invested...)...Only to get it going for the day last Saturday, finally testing out the 4x4, which was very smooth, and Sunday morning being greeted with it cranking, but not firing. since then it been several days of diagnosis (Coil Pack, TPS, Crank/Cam Sensors) I believe I slipped a tooth, regardless, it needs to be changed. Any suggestions on components/processes to try out are welcome!
I also think the plug on coil order she had was not correct, as I heard a slight Miss, and have found 4 that claim to be the "Right" one for my model lol. "524163*, 521436,254361,254163. The first was the order I had it running last Saturday, anyone here with this Engine, or knowledge of, feel free to help with that issue, that would be excellent.
I have a ton of pics ,and have really enjoyed my Rig so far, learned alot, have nearly a binder full of diagrams, how to's, troubleshooting, and removal/installation of nearly every component. I am ready to fill the back with camping.fishing gear and play a little haha... I am glad I found this forum, the posts that I have read has shown me there is some knowledge floating around..
