Hello all.
I'm new to the forum and want to show a trailer that I've been building for the last few weeks. I needed a way to haul my KLR650 Dualsport behind my Jeep and wanted it to convert to a small camper when I get to the destination. It looks really heavy, but it's really not...and easily opened with one person. There are a few items that were salvaged from an Air Force trailer that I picked up, like the axle, pintle hitch and parking brake. It sits on 35's (to match the CJ) and has Jeep CJ rear leaf springs / shocks. I will be adding a fuel can holder this weekend to match the one shown. I've hauled the bike around a little bit to test it...so far it works well. I robbed some latches off ammo cans to use in various places on the build (because I'm cheap and they worked well). The front storage compartment lid converts into a table for cooking etc. The ramp is obviously for loading/unloading the bike and the catwalk beside it is to aid in the process. Both of those slide into pockets under the trailer and lock in. I'm sure there are those questioning my sanity on using heim joints in some of the applications...well, lets just say I had them so why not? The opening inside was built to hold a twin sized mattress which will be a whole lot better than sleeping on the ground. Note that it is still a work in progress and will have snap in sides with windows and also a rear "curtain" with a window. Ideas and comments welcomed. Thanks!
