Hey y'all, I've lurked here for a few years but never had much to post. I've always been a IH8MUD guy, but I've recently ventured out. I'm here to talk about my '80 Longbed 4x4 truck.
Here's the story... Late 1979 (3 years before I was born) my dad ordered a brand new 1980 Toyota truck from our local dealer, that truck was around all my life growing up, and when I turned 16 it was my first "official" vehicle, I had a couple after that but the Yota was always around. I drove it like a 16 year old kid... it lasted... I got married, had a few projects and ended up selling it.. it made its way around the area (200 mile radius) and then back into my hometown. It was originally blue but I recognized it even though now it had a crappy red paintjob on it. I contacted the guy who owned it now and confirmed that it was in fact the old Yota.. This was about a year ago and I had just finished building my '92 FJ80 and had no time or money for another project. After a year of DD'ing my 10MPG FJ80 I figured I needed another daily. I contacted him about the '80 truck and asked him if he would be willing to sell it back to me. He was currently going through a job change and was going to be moving soon. He agreed that I needed it back and we agreed on $1000... I was more than willing to buy it back for that amount. We meet up and I'm looking over the truck (which sadly has seen better days) we get to talking about my history with the truck and guess what..... HE GIVES IT BACK TO ME... GIVE... Like free... he said that he new that it would be in good hands... So long story short, I have my first vehicle back and now the work begins... Here's a photo of it when I had it before I sold it... I'll update this as I move along. and i'll also post up some photos of my FJ80 for yall too...
