How about a quick trip to Newfoundland in August to break the winter up. Three of us left the USA to “Ride the Rock” in 2008. Needless to say we had a fabulous time. The highlight of the trip was the warm and generous residents of this lovely island. They embraced us as family even though they did not know what the NC on our license plates meant. Here is a photo diary of the trip.
First thing to do is catch the ferry to the island, it is about a 6 hour sail.
Tied down with battleship chains.
The first view of the rock.
First morning view after camping on the ocean at Blow me Down.
On a short boat ride up a fjord, we are accidental tourists when we step off the motorcycles.

The island roads are mostly gravel, cutting through the trees and moose.
Lots of beautiful locations, the area is pristine due to the main industries being fishing and logging.
We move slow most of the time, camping, riding, eating and repeat.
The campgrounds south of St. Johns were full, so we beat it 199 miles down to the south end of the island to a deserted campground on the ocean. We rode until after dark, slowing to let moose move across the road in front of us. It was a full moon and the moon shone over the beach front with a beautiful corona. We dined on 3 warm beers, 2 power bars and 1 can of beef stew.
This is what we woke up to.
A walk up from the beach get you this type of game path. Moose scat abounds.
Let's follow this road and see where it goes.
The road leads you here, it is the end of the continent.
If you need it, you better have it with you.
It just a fuel fitting, how bad can that be.
A few more days of wrenching and riding and we returned to the USA satisfied that we had gone to at least one end of the earth, we are looking for the other ones.
Thanks for tuning in.
