Hi I have a Nissan Micra K11 SE+ 1.4, 2001, Y-reg.
It's showing all the classic symptoms of the throttle body having gone: engine misfiring, poor idling, almost no acceleration and engine malfunction light coming on.
I took it to a recommended non-dealer garage and they said it was the spark plugs and replaced them - but to no avail.
So I took it to a Nissan dealer and they report the throttle body as being the problem - at a cost of £705 for a new one.
Then I found this website where I can buy refurbs for £90.
This guy had exactly the same symptoms but the problem wasn't the throttle body or spark plugs - it was the distributor.
So my question is:
Because it's a Nissan garage will they likely have done very proper checks that will have reported the fault very accurately? Or will they be hazarding a guess based upon the clues just like me?
I don't want to try soldering the throttle body or replacing it for £90 if there's a possibility it could just be the distributor.
Equally I don't want waste £30 on a new distributor if the Nissan garage would have probably 100% determined it's the throttle body.
Any help or advice is much appreciated!
