Dear all,
I am still in the search of a used car here in Timor leste, well I had the opportunity for a LR Disco I but it went away and was too $$$, then came the Nissan Rasheen which was too small for the family, now I found a Nissan Terrano, model 1998 Diesel, Automatic with about 160'000 km. The car was imported from Japan 2 years ago. The owner just serviced it, put 2 new batteries, new suspension, and new bush (?) - he mention all the steering is new.

Well, I don't know anything about these cars! So your advices are needed:

1. Is Terrano the Pathfinder?
2. Are they reliable cars? It will be used essentially as a daily car...
3. Is it good for off road? Here in Timor the roads are pretty bad and for exploring the country we need 4X4.
4. What should I be aware off? What are their week points?
5. Is 1998 a good year
6. What ever you think I should know....

Thanks in advance!
cheers

kind of sort of.

Yes

This one is a JDM import living in the Yukon Territory of Canada and traveled here to Alaska on holiday in the winter, all on road but a pretty bad road. Off road these are good but with some modifications they can be great.
4. What should I be aware off? What are their week points?
Steering but there are many upgrades around. Most are here state side.
5. Is 1998 a good year?
Yes
6. What ever you think I should know....
Thanks for posting up here on ExPo. Keep us posted on what rig you end up purchasing, because what you have in East Timor is very different than the rigs we have here in the States.
