The guys from Nitro Gear were invited down to Ultimate Adventure this year by Petersen's 4 Wheel and Off Road Magazine. Here are some of the pictures of them and the other guys down as they cruise through the south.

Unfortunately I am not down there with Carl and Jeremy, they get to have all the fun. There have been a few R&P failures so far, I think they have gotten all of them fixed so far though.

Here are some more pics of them from monday and tuesday:

What diesel is in that Liberty?

Also we are getting the rain that they got yesterday. Super slick right now in the southeast. LOL bet they "camp" in hotels tonight. Don't blame em!

The liberty has the factory CRD diesel, there might be some more info on it on the BDS suspension Facebook.

All of the photos and videos available on Facebook have the tag #UA2013, so if you want to see more pics and the videos, search using that hashtag.

Here are a few more photo teasers of the trip:

Here is a little more background info from Carl, who attended UA this year:

This year we were fortunate enough to attend Petersen's 4 Wheel & Offroad's Ultimate Adventure. This is an annual event and has grown to be one of the most famous and renowned events. We came aboard as the official Gear & Axle Sponsor.

The event consists of a mix of Hardcore trails, to Freeway driving. This year was held in the deep south and we covered over 1500 miles through the states of Alabama, Georgia, Florida & South Carolina. This trip is the real deal. Long days of wheeling, road driving and wrenching with little time for sleep. High temps combined with high humidity, record rainfalls, and lots of bugs and mud kept this adventure "Ultimate"

This year we brought a unique vehicle. Our 1987 Land Cruiser BJ73 which was imported form Spain in mint condition, and taken apart, cut up and heavily modified with Custom Toyota based 9.5" Axles, Icon Coilovers, custom cage, links, rockers, bumpers, Hutchinson double beadlocks, 37" Nitto Trail grapplers and much more. The goal was for the truck to be capable, strong and reliable in hardcore offroad situations, and to drive nicer than stock as it will be daily driven. See this thread for more info on the build of the Nitro Gear & Axle BJ73 project "Inigo Montoya".

What off road areas did you hit on the trip? I can't seem to find them listed anywhere. The SPEED channel recently aired a program on the 2012 tip which was very good. For those who haven't seen it, I'd highly suggest setting it up to record on the DVR. I'm hopeful they'll do one for the 2013 trip as well

The Ultimate Adventure that is airing on Speed channel is UA 2012 which was in the Northwest USA. This year's event wont be out for a while.

Here is a link to lots and lots of photos:

We Traveled 1500 road miles Plus 4 days of pretty hardcore rocks/mud. All of this is done while being self sufficient (besides lots of gas station mini mart stops) . It truly is a hardcore version of overlanding I would say. We started in Alabama and went through Georgia, Florida and ended in South Carolina.

Just to give you an Idea, our BJ73 with just 1 driver in it weighted in at 6020 lbs, so everybody is wheeling with all of their gear.

We hit
Morris Mountain ORV park near Oxford, Alabama
River Rock Private ORV park in Milledgeville, Georgia
Mudd Muckers ORV park in Bunnell, Florida
Gulches ORV park near Clinton, South Carolina

This was a great experience traveling backroads and offroad trails in the southeast.

Check out the latest issue of Petersen's 4-Wheel & Offroad Magazine for 2013 Ultimate Adventure Coverage.

To our surprise Project "Inigo" BJ73 was said to be "easily the most exotic vehicle on the trip!"
