Hey, just wanted to see what everyones opinion was comparing these tires. I am getting 285/65/18 so styles are somewhat limited. These are the two Im deciding between. Any comments would be great. Thanks in advance.

I have no direct experience with either, but a bunch of the 'cruiser guys here in AZ run the Nittos and speak highly of them. Another buddy runs the Geolanders and likes them.

I'm on my 5th set of Nitto's 295.70.17 (1) 295.75.16 (2), 285.75.16 (1), 285.70.17 (1), and getting ready to add a set to the tacoma 295.70.17 and in about 5k add the third set to the 4Runner 295.75.16. I love the Nitto's from and cost vs. life vs. usefulness standpoint. We have a great deal of rain here and they are flawless, wet traction is superb, dry traction outstanding, mud if fine, snow is ok, and rocks are great. I also have the Geo AT/S on my wife Explorer and like them too, I picked them for hers because they looked more like a HT than an AT with the additional siping.

I had the Yokohama AT-S tires on my Tacoma and loved them. They handled both the snow of CO and the deserts of Utah just fine. Went with the Yokos because I got a good deal on them at Discount Tire. When it comes time to replace the BFG KOs on my 4runner, Yokos will be my first choice.

I had the Yokohama Geolander ATS tires and now have the Nitto Terra Grappler.

Yokohamas gave me "only" 45K miles. Excellent tire with no complaints. But I can't find them any longer

When they wore out I went with the Nitto. So far I only have 20K but they still look like new.

Both tires were great on the road and in the snow. Haven't had much use of either in deep mud.

Add another vote for the Nittos. They were very quiet and did well offroad. I'm going to go back to them after my BFG's wear out.

I have the Yoko's on a 1/2 ton Chevy surveying truck (that carries a 4-wheeler in the back about 90% of the time). I've had close to 40k trouble free miles out of them so far. No flats, no balancing issues, or anything to gripe about except that they suck in any kind of mud... but that was no surprise.

Nittos here. Have been a great tire, balance easily, quiet and so far have worked. Not the best deep snow or mud tire, but for 90% of the stuff you really use 'em for, I have been very happy. I have use mine all over Nevada, California, Utah (even ran trails in Moab). I would buy them again, so far 20k miles and less than half worn.
