NL solenoid wiring questions

Quick, hopefully, simple question. Im wiring up my Tundra with the NL dual battery solenoid. It is in the bed of my truck. I have the pos and neg, 6 gauge cable, running the full way to main battery. All fuses everything set and good to go. My question is does the small black wire on the solenoid need to go to the main battery neg or can I put it on the secondary neg?? It shows the main in the install manual, but I think that assumes the solenoid is close to the main. The NL portable pack doesn't have it run to main near as I can tell.

Hope this make sense. Thanks Scott

Thanks IdaSHO. I called Paul Mays, as usual great customer service and great guy to chat with. His answer was that if anything goes wonky with the NL, it was better if it was wired straight into the main battery for trouble shooting.

I had already pulled the wire with the main cables since I figured why not. So it all worked out. Hardest part, getting the cables up to the pick up bed without cutting too big a hole.

That black wire goes to the main battery negative terminal to read its voltage and activate the timer to open the solenoid allowing the aux battery to charge.
