Second Annual NOAS - Freeze Your Nuts off
When: February 22nd - 24th
Where: Black Mountain Recreational Park, Harlan, KY
Who: Anyone with a Nissan is invited, paid member or not.
We arrived Thursday afternoon between 3-4. Others started to show up shortly after. We all got checked into our cabins and drove to the camp ground to see who had arrived.
Friday Morning around 10:00am we all met up at the camp site to start a morning run. At this time there were 10 trucks with us. The weather was raining and the fog was very heavy in some area's of the trails.
It was very slick and muddy, but made the blue trails that we ran challenging and fun. The mud was so slick and thick that Matt (super6turbo4) had to strap Stan (Highway_star) up one of the hill climbs, but other then that Stan's Truck did great to be a 2wd.
We all headed back to the cabins and camp for lunch around 12:00. During lunch some others started to arrive. (Trail leader Brian (Houdini))
Friday afternoon around 3:00 PM we headed back to the trails. Mat (super6turbo4) was volunteered by Mike (mcm4090) to be trail leader. We had approximately 14 trucks with us the rain had stopped and the fog cleared. We continued to follow the blue trails. We took a wrong turn up one of the tails and had to back out of the trail. On the left side of the trail there was a steep hill and the Mud was real slick, John (Mr. Plow) started to back out and slid off the trail to the left, the rear of his truck had slid off the trail when Richard (Frontier2k1) tried to pull him back onto the trail he slid off the trail more.
Mike(mjbgman)was trying to assist in the recovery he slid off the trail as well, Wayne (07Frontier) was able to pull him out.
Jay(BMXCARD)attached his winch to the rear of John's bumper, but when trying to recover John he was sliding more off the side of the trail.
Richard kept John strapped to his truck for the fear that the truck would roll. Brian(Houdini) had to park his truck on a uphill climb so that we could hook John's Winch to the side of Brian's truck so they could pull him side ways to get him back on the trail. This attempt was successful. By this time the Fog had started to roll back in and it was getting dark. We had to get 14 or so trucks turned around to head back off the mountain. During this time Mike(mcm4090) was trail leader. The fog was so thick that you could only see directly in front of you maybe ten feet or less. I did not see that path to the right after getting turned around once again and with the help of navigation tool and the LIGHTS ON! We were able to get back on the right trail. Everyone met up at the cabins for dinner and to share stories around the camp fire.
Saturday Morning we headed to the camp site for a group photo and to get the groups together for the day. There were approximately 22 trucks with a mixture of Frontiers, Pathfinders, Hard bodies, and Xterra's.

We all headed out to the first rock garden to watch Richard(Frontier2K1), Brian (Houdini) and Mark (MarkRobinson) go through the rock garden. We split into groups and headed out onto the trails.
Matt(Super6turbo4) was trail leader for one of the moderate group (Thanks for Volunteering) The Moderate group headed out running Class Two (Blue) and Class Three (Green) trails. We ended up at a spot where there were several hill climbs. Mike(mjbgman) started up a hill climb that had a sharp left turn at the top the truck slid sideways he ended up sliding sideways down the hill hitting three small, his tire came off the rim. With some luck and good driving skills he didn't roll.
He was able to replace the tire and we were back on the trails within no time.
