While I'm sure it's a great truck, I personally don't see the allure to purchasing a pre-built vehicle or having one built, thanks. Feel free to use my fact-finding thread as an advertisement though...

Cool, good luck with your build. I hope it all works out for you.

You can get a lot for the GX. I managed. Iron Man can slow boat anything you want. I have a prado bumper on the front, ASFIR skids under, and a prado snorkel. I had custom sliders and rear bumper made since they weren't making them yet (southern speed style does now) if you like that look.

Thanks Dan. I personally hold you responsible for my latest obsession and my wife will be in touch with you shortly :sombrero: But seriously, what started out as a casual web search revealed your truck which has been a huge inspiration. At first, I thought about building a Tacoma. I'd be giving up a nice Outback (Wagon) for a new rig so my focus switched to an SUV. Was just about to "settle" on an LX470/100-series or a 3rd Gen 4Runner. I didn't even consider the GX because I hadn't a clue it was a Prado underneath (and here I am a former Toyota Master Tech and Toyota factory R&D employee!). Anyway, it strikes me as a great platform, perfect size for trials yet has plenty of creature comforts. I think it still is the "dark side" (it will be until folks start prepping Venzas for overlanding :) and will shock a few more people on trails for a couple more years yet.
