Noon here from Texas!

Hello all, my name is Lee and I live in Austin, TX. I have been off road/rock crawling for 10 years now and in that time I have owned two Toyota's and four Jeeps. I've always stuck to trail running and off road parks, but now that I have satisfied that need, I look forward to doing the expedition thing.

I sold my '07 Rubicon Unlimited a few months back when I finally grew tired of t-case problems and the anemic motor. Right after, I bought a Grand Cherokee that a few of you might know, it's Chris Stoner's old WJ known as the "White Whale!" It sits on one ton running gear and 37's currently with LSR bumpers, Fox 2.0 piggy backs, and Raceline beadlocks. I've added a winch and roof-top basket for my kayaks with many more mod's planned in the near future.

I just wanted to introduce myself as I have been lurking around the boards for a few weeks now gathering much appreciated info/knowledge. I hope to make it out on some the trips soon (I'm currently trying to wiggle the Arkansas Halloween Trip in) and hopefully meet a few of the local guys here in central Texas over some beer and wings/pizza.

If anyone ever needs assistance with anything here in central Texas don't be afraid to ask, I'll give a helping hand whenever possible.

Hi Lee,

I'm north of you, up in Copperas Cove, about 55 minutes. I'm running a 98 Grand, of course not near as big as yours! Basic little 5.2 v8, 2 inch BB with 245/75r16's. Yesterday I finished welding my winch mount and cut the factory bumper cover to fit it. Eventually I'll finish it into a full bumper, but it works for now. I have a tilt down rear tire mount but will be building a swing style hopefully over the winter. Call it my slow build as I'm not really in a hurry.

Here are a few others with the winch and spare mounted for the full effect. These were taken shortly after the massive transformation. It looks like this now except for the lack of the roof top basket. Now I just need to get some lights on/under/behind it.

Thanks for the compliments guys, she definitely gets a lot of attention no matter where I go. I had it in Vegas a few weeks ago, parked out in front of the Bellagio and every time we went to and from the hotel there were people staring/talking about it/taking pics of it. I thought that was kind of funny.

I haven't had to crawl under her to do any service yet, but it's definitely bigger than any of my previous rigs and a few of those I could sit underneath and work on so I imagine it would be the same for the WJ as well.
