Not for the faint of heart

Glad you got to relax. Looks like a beautiful set up.

I think the only thing that could have made it better was a maybe a big thunder storm during dinner. A ripping Sierra light show is always a grand event. We had big thunder heads but no rain.

WOW.... I hope you can move on from this horrific time onto greener pastures and better memories.. That is just horrible.

I remember something wasn't right!..........

One year I was doing the Muir trail and passed some what I thought were fellow backpackers going the other direction. After they passed I remembered something just wasn't right.....we were at least 2 days in and while we weren't too grubby we weren't as fresh as a rose either. These people were just too "fresh" looking, and their packs were too small and light.

I later found out that there were traveling from one High Sierra Camp to another each day. Upon inspection of one of these camps I was surprized how nice they were and how little one needed to carry from one camp to another.

I kind of compared it to ruffing it on an overland trip in a RV between hotel rooms.

Thanks,
Fred

While I did enjoy being pampered on this trip I still enjoy and prefer backpacking. There is something simply satisfying about sitting on granite while cooking a meal over a lightweight stove, preparing your camp bed just the way you want it or scrambling from a fast approaching thunderstorm looking for shelter. The essentials and nothing more make for a fuller experience in my opinion.

Keep this thread away from my wife!!! I think this would be her style of camping. Cool place, I will have to check it out sometime. Thanks for sharing.

My wife actually surprised me and told me about the trip just the day before we left. She had planned it months ahead of time with a friend of hers who also surprised her husband at the same time. We had a great time together up there.

I discovered it is also a great networking getaway. I am sure my wife and I were the couple with the lowest income but the rest of the campers were quite a diverse group of successful people from entrepreneurs to bankers, journalists etc..... Dinner discussions were very interesting.
