not really much of an overland question.

hey guys, i am looking for a second vehicle. My DD right now it a 1984 land rover 90 which isn't the best DD for me right now. I absolutely love the truck! but it isn't daily driver material just yet, and will require a lot to become it. I repair CNC machines at my job, and it will soon require me to drive all throughout the northeast to repair customers machines. question to you guys is what would be a few good options as a second vehicle i want a pick up 4x4. so i am thinking any toyota pick up or 90-2001 f-150/250's? it is really coming down to cost. my budget would about around 7000$ hope you guys can help.

How much gear/tools/parts do you need to bring with?

Will a Toyota be big enough?

If so, probably get better milage.

My '02 F150 w/5.4L gets 15 on the highway @ 65-70 empty, gets upwards of 19-20 if I keep it 55 and under.

It's also for sale, and I can make it within your price range if your interested!

Remember a 3/4 ton is going to run more for maintenance, brakes and drivetrain parts run more for the 3/4 and 1 ton rigs.

I'd stay with a 1/2 ton or mid size truck if you don't need the weight/towing capacity.

i would say toyota would be more than enough most of the service tech guys drive cars, but that just isnt for me! i want the truck as a everyday DD and something to go on trips with and what not. and i noticed your truck on the forsale board it looks almost exactly what i want! but it is to far away for me, and i still need time to look around save a little more and what not! but goodluck with your sale! maybe in a month or so if it is still forsale we can discuss it! Thanks for the offer.

Do you need to carry people? If it is just you and a significant other, I would suggest a long bed, standard cab 4x4 F-150, either with the 4.2 V6 or 4.6 V8. Everything you need and nothing you don't. Because the standard cab isn't too popular, and they usually come with few options, you can get one at a great price.
