Not-So-Hypothetical Question 3/16-3/23/08

Let's just assume that: You live in Lander, WY. It's been a longish winter with much snow and some sub-zero temps. You have a new-to-you 2005 Outfitter Apex 8 mounted on a Ford F250 V10 crew cab pickup. You also own an ATV which you enjoy riding. It's time to warm up someplace scenic and wild. It's time for the new camper's maiden voyage. You have March 15 - 23, 2008 off from work.

So what do you do? Where do you go? Do you come back? Best regards, Ed.

No need to assume... This has been a looooong winter.

I would go to Lake Powell.

Do some camping, fishing, tour the slot canyons, do some day hikes, take an afternoon boat tour of the lake, ride the Hole in the Rock road, drink cold beer, nap, thaw out, etc.

I'll leave it up to you whether to come back or not.

Hopefully you won't have much to do when you get back. I read the newspaper today. Nice job solving and resolving a tragic, grisly 22 year old crime. You've earned a little R&R, Shooter. ;)

Thanks KC. All murders are challenging but, cold cases are special. I just ordered 3 guidebooks and a Utah atlas. It's back to Utah we go. I've done Lake Powell several times by boat in summers past. I'm thinking of some back road exploring this time. Best regards, Ed.

Ed, I still have a spot for the trip I am making on the White Rim trail if you are up for it. I have a friend from Lander and so that area holds a special place in my heart. Let me know if you are interested in this trip:

Also, let me know if you are in the area on your ATV as I am up for some riding as well. I have not been on mine since Elk Hunting Season. I plan on making my way up to your neck of the woods in June/July. The kids are old enough to appreciate Yellowstone and this is a good year for such a trip.

Kevin - thanks for the gracious offer. Unfortunately, your trip is scheduled a few days earlier than my vacation. Bon voyage and please post a report. Best regards, Ed.
